I love to share things with my other pug friends that have made my pug’s and my life better, and this is definitely one of them!
First, here’s my flea story! The first summer that I had my little pug Rico, in 2011, was the first summer in my life that I ever experienced the nastiness and nuisance of fleas, not just on my pug, but also IN MY HOUSE! (P.S. I had never had a dog before him!)
Yuck, ouch, itch, scratch! Yes, they are disgusting, and yes they wreak havoc, but they are something that most all dog owners have to deal with at one point in time.
One of my biggest problems was we were always OUTSIDE! In the parks, walking, hikes, etc. And I live in California. So that first summer we had a major flea outbreak. And so, I went on a mission!
Looking For A Natural Flea Remedy:
Being that I was trying to do everything as natural and organic as possible for my little Rico, I was determined to not put him in a flea collar, or give him any kind of drug that would end up messing with his system just to keep the fleas OFF him, and out of his fur.
I knew there had to be a better, natural, holistic approach to pet care than pummeling his little body with toxic pesticides and potentially deadly drugs! But Rico was miserably scratching!
Friends told me, get him a flea collar. And I just didn’t want to do it. I gave him baths and started to search all over for “how to get rid of fleas” and for a “natural flea remedy.”
Stumbling Upon the Flea Cure-All
That first summer I did a LOT of “non-toxic flea remedy” and “natural flea remedy” research, and came across an all-natural, wonderful product, and my doggie-flea life changed forever!
I discovered a product, appropriately called, “Wondercide”
At the time, they were a much smaller company than they are now (you may have recently seen them on Shark Tank), and probably just beginning to break out. But I gave their formula a try, and I was amazed.
When I sprayed it on Rico, all of a sudden the little buggers just started to basically “float” to the surface of his fur, and DIE! Within, literally minutes, every last flea was gone. I remember my son and I watching in amazement as all these black “specks” started to appear on his fur! I could not believe they were all the fleas!
The best part about Wondercide is that it literally not only kills the fleas, but it also protects your dog.
Also, when you spray it on places where the fleas live in your house, like their bedding, the new flea eggs die.
You can even spray it outside in areas where there may be fleas, or where your pet usually goes to hangout.
So you can actually STOP new fleas from hatching!
But most important, if you are like me, and you are looking for something natural, that you are going to spray all over little doggie, then you want to know what it’s made of right?
What is Wondercide:
Organic, therapeutic-grade cedar oil is the active ingredient in Wondercide Flea & Tick Control for Pets + Home and Yard + Garden. Cedar oil has been used for centuries to manage pests – think Grandma’s cedar chest! Cedar is a sustainable, naturally occurring, renewable resource, and Wondercide’s cedar oil is produced by steam distillation with a proprietary fractionating process that renders it phenol-free.
Cedar oil affects octopamine, a compound that is essential to life for pheromone-driven “bad bugs” like fleas and ticks. Octopamine is responsible for regulating heart rate, movement, and behavior in pests. It’s essential for life. Cedar oil blocks the octopamine neurotransmitter receptors in pests, causing them to be repelled from the area. When contacted with the cedar oil in Wondercide’s Flea & Tick Control products, pests suffocate and die. Via Wondercide.com
Natural Flea Remedy:
It really is an amazing product. After that first summer, I am being 100% honest, we never had a flea infestation again, and Rico has never ever had to be on any flea drugs or collars!
I like to think in all my “smartness” and googling saavy that I actually “discovered” Wondercide, but I didn’t! I just like to share good stuff with other people who might be on a mission like I was to keep my pooch as healthy as can be!
Please give it a try and let me know what you think!
Keeping your pets healthy and non-toxic is one of the best gifts you can give them!
