QUESTION: How can I get my pug to go potty in cold weather? I live in Minnesota where it gets very cold. My pug has bad hips and when I take her out on days like today -5 degrees she can’t go potty because the ground is so cold/frozen. She begins to stiffen up and has something almost like a seizure. I’m not sure what to do since if she doesn’t go potty for a while that same thing happens. I was wondering if anyone had any clue as to how I can maybe make the ground warmer or any ideas that could help. At this point I’m not sure if she is trainable in kitty litter since she is 5 years old. Thanks!
ANSWER: Get her booties and a warm doggie coat. Make sure the ground is clear where she needs to go—shovel it or whatever. Carry her out on leash and put her down. That’s all I can think of. Why not look at www.akc.org for the local pug club and find a breeder in MN and see what they do? Or call a pug breed rescue—they would be able to answer any questions I am sure. There may even be a pug breeder/owner group on Yahoo you could ask. Good luck.
