QUESTION: How many PUG owners still feed their 2 year old and up 2 times a day? I have a 2-year old PUG whom I am having difficulty transitioning to a feeding of one time per day. He still needs to be fed 2 times. Any suggestions?
ANSWER: Trying to feed a pug once a day is asking for trouble. They aren’t free feeders and so they are simply going to have a cow if they don’t get food more than once a day. Mine are both past puppy stages over a year old and while I did go from feeding them three to two times a day I would never consider going to once a day unless I wanted to hear them whine about it for hours at their regular breakfast or dinner times. Some people may say you just need to train them better – but that’s because they’ve probably never had a pug and have no idea how incessant they can be about food. It’s much easier to just give them two smaller meals.
