QUESTION: What are the disadvantages/ cons of having a pug? I’m looking for a dog maybe adopt or buy and i’m thinking of Pugs. But can anyone tell me what are the cons and pros of having a pug? I’m living in Huntington Beach so the weather is not to hot and not so cold. And is there any place that is designed specifically for pugs? Like adoption and buying pugs? Near my place
ANSWER: I owned a pug about 7 years ago. They are brachyphalic dogs which means that they have the pushed in face. The cons of this is that they can have breathing problems. If you get one from the wrong breeder you could end up having to pay huge to get elongated palate surgery to shorten the nares as well to help the dog breathe. Also they cant handle extreme heat or extreme cold. They are very clingy dogs from my experience but they have a wonderful temperament and are very smart. They are also quite yappy.
