QUESTION: What should I do about my pug’s hairless spot on her stomach? There is a patch on the middle of my pug’s stomach where the hair has rubbed off and now is a reddish colored patch. It seems to have happened after we bought her a new harness she grew out of her old one. What should I do?
ANSWER: I had a similar problem with my pug’s collar. We are pretty sure it was because the collar was too big and was rubbing the wrong way. It never was red that I noticed but that’s possibly because I noticed it pretty early. If the harness is leather or a thick material I’d bet this is the problem. Try leaving it off of her for a little while and see if the patch clears up or maybe just tighten it. Since they have so much skin it’s pretty difficult to get things too tight on them so skin tight is not as tight as it is on other dogs. Hope this helps!
