cute-pug-dog-sad-face-cryingQUESTION: Is it true that pugs have difficulty giving birth? I have a pug named Lucy She is so beautiful and she has won awards.I thought about breeding her for a long time I researched on whelping and did my work. But im scared to breed her I dont want anything to happen to her. But i would love to have puppies with her quality.I wouldnt even sell the puppies either.I bought a good quality black pug and he is almost old enough to breed by the time she should be in heat. I’m having second thoughts should i go through with it?

ANSWER: Pugs often have to have c-sections because they cannot always pass all of the puppies. As long as you do not let her start to go into labor before you have the c-section done there are very few risks. If the female is of proper age and healthy their are usually very few problems.I would just have a planned c-section with her. They are a lot cheaper when scheduled and they are a lot better for the mother and the puppies.
